CR Holdings could not have grown into one of
Korea’s leading companies without the unwavering support of our local communities.
In the spirit of gratitude, we are committed to giving back and sharing with our neighbors.
From our humble beginnings in a small factory in Mokpo to becoming Korea’s top refractory company, our journey has been made possible thanks to the many people who stood by us. In particular, it is no exaggeration to say that CR Holdings would not be where it is today without the support—both big and small—of our local communities.
That is why Chosun Refractories has long been engaged in a wide range of community initiatives, from caring for the elderly who live alone to promoting a culture of ongoing giving, and carrying out volunteer activities tailored to local needs.
Going forward, we will continue to do our utmost to contribute to the development and well-being of our communities, in sincere appreciation of the steadfast support we have received.
Employment Stability
As of 2020, CR Holdings maintained an average employee tenure of 24 years, reflecting a highly stable employment environment with virtually no turnover or resignations. Prior to the enactment of legislation extending the retirement age, we proactively implemented our own retirement age extension in alignment with national employment policies.
In response to the demands of an aging society and the growing need for extended employment, we introduced the Silver Work Program in 2018. This initiative allows employees who wish to continue working beyond the official retirement age to do so, ensuring continued engagement and contribution from experienced talent.
Donations and Volunteer Activities
- · In a pioneering move within the labor sector, we replaced traditional floral arrangements at union general meetings with rice donations, which were then used to support underprivileged neighbors—setting a new standard for charitable giving.
- · Since the launch of the CR Love & Sharing Volunteer Group in 2005, we have continued regular volunteer activities to this day.
- · Since 2007, monthly care visits for elderly individuals living alone have become a symbolic volunteer activity of the Chosun Refractories Labor Union and a meaningful contribution to the local community.
- · In 2017, the Chosun Refractories Labor Union Scholarship Foundation was established. Through this foundation, we provide scholarships to children from low-income families in the local community and among our partner companies, helping to ensure access to education.
- · Each winter, we donate essential goods to vulnerable communities in Pohang, including 20,000 liters of heating oil, ₩30 million worth of instant noodles, and ₩20 million worth of coal briquettes—demonstrating our ongoing commitment to helping neighbors in need during the cold season.
- · In 2020, all executives and employees of Chosun Refractories contributed 1% of their monthly salaries to a volunteer fund, which was used to donate ₩10 million to the city of Pohang to support COVID-19 relief efforts.
